causes and risk factors
of Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are most common in women aged 30-50 and often shrink after menopause. Risk factors include family history, with higher susceptibility if close relatives had them, and African-American ethnicity, which is linked to more severe symptoms. High estrogen and progesterone levels promote growth, while obesity and a diet high in sugar and processed foods further increase risk. Vitamin D deficiency and early menstruation, especially before age 10, also contribute. Pregnancy lowers risk, while smoking, alcohol, and inactivity raise it, though regular exercise may help prevent fibroids.
